Literature modern - Thomas Mann today. Contemporary authors take a stand!

Under the motto "Literature modern - Thomas Mann today. Contemporary authors take a stand!", the Network Thomas Mann International invited ten contemporary authors to discuss Thomas Mann, his works and the questions of his time: Katharina Adler, Usama Al Shahmani, Priya Basil, Nora Bossong, Olga Grjasnowa, Eveline Hasler, Jonas Lüscher, Norbert Gstrein, Jindrich Mann and Mithu Sanyal illuminate surprising and in part very personal aspects of their relationship to Thomas Mann.

Their positions and essays read by the authors themselves can now be seen as film contributions. Click directly on the images above. The videos will be published successively on this website from September 21

In addition, on Monday, September 20, starting at 8 p.m. live at the Thomas Mann Archive in Zurich, three of the authors debated at the annual conference of the German Thomas Mann Society. Olga Grjasnowa, Jonas Lüscher and Usama Al Shahmani talked about which continuities and breaks determine Thomas Mann's work from a contemporary perspective, what constitutes the writer's specific modernity and whether this is still connectable. The discussion was moderated by Beate Tröger. The livestream can be accessed here below at any time.
