What role does Thomas Mann’s lifelong concerns play in today’s world? In what way can the Mann family’s literature and political attitudes provoke us to think about the pressing issues of our times? Migration and exile, gender issues or political engagement and democracy are only a few of the topics that are of great relevance to the present day. Im Rahmen des Jubiläumsprogramms „100 Jahre Der Zauberberg“ liest Harald Jähner aus seinem Buch Höhenrausch. Das kurze Leben zwischen den Kriegen in der renommierten Buchhandlung Felix Jud in Hamburg.
Deutschland nach 1918. Nach dem Krieg eröffnen sich neue Lebensweisen, in den 20er Jahren erfährt die Wirtschaft Aufschwung, gesellschaftlich und politisch ist vieles im Umbruch. Nicht alle finden sich hier wieder und auch kommende Finanzschwierigkeiten tragen zum Unmut bei. Diesem schnellen Wechsel der Umstände und dessen Auswirkungen widmet Harald Jähner sich in seinem neuen Buch.
